What is Die Struck

Die struck lapel pins give the appearance of your image or design being "carved" into the metal surface of the lapel pin. This creates the illusion of a sculptured piece of jewelry and is quite impressive.

The process for developing die struck lapel pins is simple. A die is cut to the image of your lapel pin design (repeat orders save on this step). Next, your image is stamped on a sheet of iron or copper. Copper is a softer metal and allows a sharper image at a slightly higher cost than iron.

Cutting molds for die struck lapel pins are made separately, and the lapel pins are cut to the outline of the design shape. Plating of the die struck lapel pins is done next. For this type of lapel pin the most common type of plating is gold on gold, but other metal plating (such as silver, bronze, copper and black nickel) are available.

Finally, the raised metal surfaces of the lapel pins are then highly polished to a luster finish while recessed areas are left with a sandblasted look. The end result is an elegant and impressive "tone on tone" creation.

Die struck lapel pins can be created in a wide variety of shapes and sizes in order to present just the right image for your company. Let us discuss the range of options available with you when you choose to order die struck lapel pins.
